MEDIA4ALL

The project “Media4All" aims to promote the development of digital skills and media literacy, from an apprenticeship perspective, while supporting adult and community educators and professionals from the arts and culture sectors.

The project aims to combating disinformation, fake news and cybersecurity. These are increasingly dominant themes in an environment of disquiet and uncertainty where information is multiplying that can cause not only social damage, but also public health damage (FCT, 2020).

The current situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the lockdown of most of the EU population, who spend more time at home and therefore more time online. As a result, the media landscape has undergone profound changes in recent decades that have irreversibly affected education, culture and the economy, having a major impact on citizens' daily lives.

Just as literacy is the ability to read and write, media literacy involves not only the ability to analyse and evaluate media news, but also the ability to create it. Rapid technological development and the spread of digital media, especially the Internet, have resulted in multiple points of access to information that doesn't come directly from its source - it's mediated for easy consumption.
